So, I’ve been playing around with mods, making a mod pack for myself, and, my computer has been struggling (of course) on 2GB of RAM. The thing is my PC is the best under a gaming PC, it has 4GB of installed RAM, but it has 16GB, of Intels new? High Optane RAM, which isn’t included in the installed RAM and instead is attached to my HDD. So what I’m wondering is, forgive me if the answer seems obvious, but, can I then allocate more then 4GB of RAM to Minecraft or would that be bad?
Thanks in advance (hope I made sense when formulating my post)

Optane is not RAM. Minecraft will not recognize Optane as RAM. You might be able to increase your RAM allocation to 3GB, but you might have issues running that close to the max.

Optane memory isn’t a type of conventional random-access computer memory, or RAM. And it isn’t a technology that’s being used for conventional storage—at least not at the consumer level, and not yet. Instead, the consumer M.2 Optane modules sold in 16GB and 32GB capacities are meant to work as a cache memory bridge between RAM and storage, allowing for faster data transfer between the memory, storage, and processor.
