This is, I'm sure, not the right category to post this in. At this point, though, I can't bring myself to care anymore. This is the 5th forum website I've went to, and nobody knows what's happening. So.... here we go, I guess.
Before I say all this, I just want to clarify that it's been confirmed that my computer doesn't have any viruses or anything like that. I don't know if that helps, or makes anything more understandable, but.... at least I can rule that out.
Over the last few days, all my single player worlds have been disappearing. I don't know why. One or two of them haven't disappeared..... but instead become extremely corrupted. Anything I've built is gone, and all the remaining worlds are flat, with a mobless, grassless terrain. There are some places on the map that have biomes, however. The biomes are only identified as 'biomes' by the ground type- ex. changing from grass to sand to indicate a desert. Whenever there is a biome different from the grass default, it's elevated maybe 500 blocks or so, creating what looks like a big sand box. I'm pretty irritated by this, as I've spent hours (if not days) on some of the worlds that have been destroyed. (idk if I mentioned this or not, but the 'biomes' are completely flat on their tops as well.)
So, I really hope someone can help me. No one on other websites really knows what to do, and I've tried everything they've suggested. )":
To download the other ones you need to make a folder in the versions folder for minecraft and put the client and JSON file for the versions in there. They all need to be named the same aside from file extensions. Once you do that, you will be able to choose that version when making a new profile with the minecraft launcher.

Some more details would be helpful. What minecraft version are you running? What version were the worlds created on? Is this pure vanilla or modded? Is this cracked or premium? Did you do anything to your minecraft and/or computer shortly before this started? Is your hard drive storage capacity filled? If this behavior started just happening out of the blue and with free disk space to write new data to then I'd be concerned that your hard drive may be dying/malfunctioning but my only basis for that would be that in the 9 years I've been playing this game I've never heard of such behavior happening without something being done first. Screenshots would be nice but the only time I can think of that I've seen something like this is when I pasted .mca files directly into a superflat world from a normal world where I'd been building and experienced similar corruption. If this is something getting progressively worse without you changing anything I would try moving my worlds and playing minecraft from a different drive to see if it halts the progression. If you have an external drive large enough to hold the files you shouldn't have much problem writing a .batch file so minecraft saves and plays from the drive rather than the default C drive. If doing this stops the disappearance and corruption of your worlds then I'd say your hard drive is dying and you should assume it'll need replaced.
With more information I may be able to help you more but I'm just as confused as every other MC player with the current description. I've never seen corruption of the level your describing before and the closest I've gotten was due to direct action on my part. This issue seeming so alien is part of the reason I think either hardware or software malfunction is going to end up being the culprit. I assume you tried backing up your worlds, deleting minecraft and re-installing it, then loading them back in and that didn't change what was going on?
P.S. In the future, something like this would go here: https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/java-edition-support I don't know if you can move your own thread but you can report it as being in the wrong section so the mods can move it for you. You may get better replies if this is in the support forum.
I'm on the newest version- 1.13.2, I think it's called? I might be wrong tho. This is also the version I created the worlds on. Everything is vanilla and premium, and I haven't done anything to my computer before this. All other aspect of the computer is working fine, and it's only a few years old. I would put I screenshot, (I have some) but idk how 0.0

No, the first time I log into a world, everything is fine. However, over the span of one or two days, it corrupts. Also, I just found that now, ALL my worlds are devoid of mobs.... I'm starting to think that maybe this is a virus?
Whenever there is a biome different from the grass default, it's elevated maybe 500 blocks or so, creating what looks like a big sand box.
It cannot be 500 blocks, because in Java the world height is limited to 256. I believe there have been mods that can change this, but I'm pretty sure none of those are available for 1.13 yet (and they may have stopped updating to newer versions of Minecraft much earlier so they wouldn't have been available before 1.13 anyways). FYI, when it comes to Java edition, worlds with heights greater than 256 tend to produce a ton of lag which is why it's been limited at this point. The bedrock edition team was at some point experimenting with allowing a much higher world height, but I dunno if they've ever progressed to anywhere near snapshot/release status on this (assuming they haven't just dropped the project entirely).
edit: when you install Optifine, before you select a world to load into, go into the Options menu from the minecraft splash screen, then go to Video Settings, and then into the Animations section. Look for an option called "Terrain animated" and turn that off. This should free up a LOT of memory being eaten up by the minecraft rendering engine, effectively doubling your playability. Fast Rendering and Fast Math are also good options to turn to the faster states.
I've never encountered a similar situation, though from what you're saying it sounds like the process Minecraft goes through to convert the worlds to the newer version was interrupted somehow- anything could cause this, even interrupting the transformation of singular files within each worlds can cause this. If this is the case, there would be no chance to revive your worlds unless you had backup copies of them, in which I suggest you immediately make copies of those for safe-keeping and then deleting the existing files, transferring your backup over (keeping the copy someplace safe) and manually troubleshoot.
It is highly improbable this is a hacker attack or virus; these attack system files, if not all files, not just Minecraft ones. I've never heard of a virus that attacks Minecraft files.
@DuhDerp I didn't see how tall the structures were specifically, so I'm sure the numbers are way off. All I know is that the blocks reach up to the block limit, however high it is.
@afchlam Thanks so much for the help! Is there any way to keep this kind of thing from happening again in the future? It seems as if every new world I create becomes corrupted. I switched off the version 1.13.2, do you think that would help?
I'm not sure what you mean by logs, but Minecraft never crashed at any point in the ordeal. Sadly, I don't have any crash reports.
One thing you could do is under your launcher setting there should be an option to 'open output log when the game starts' before you press start. Enabling that will open a window when you press play showing you in real-time what the game is doing as it starts and you load a world. By logs they most likely meant your latest.txt from .minecraft/logs which usually shows errors being thrown by a world which would be helpful for us.
I saw your reply and logged into Mincraft today. Now... everything's in a different language. I don't know whether this is unrelated or not, but I attempted to change it to English multiple times but it only switched to another language. I restarted multiple times.
: P At this point I give up and I'm going to reinstall the game.

You may want to reinstall minecraft
Remember those versions that minecraft pranked us with? Specifically:
Those are still downloadable! Watch this video for 2.0:

Does this happen when you create a new world?
