Hi, I've been playing on my single player world which was created in vanilla 1.13 and it recently crashed while I was in the Nether after that when I have tried to load the world it has finished loading and begins to render in the world before crashing almost immediately.
I've tried disabling texture packs, setting the graphics to the lowest possible settings, and I've looked into MCedit but it sounds like that doesn't work with 1.13.
Open up your world with this & look through to find your player 'Pos:' there are 3 co-ord for X,Y,Z which you can change.
Change these to some area away from the suspected corrupted chunk, save the edited file & start up/load the world (remember to back up world just-in-case)
I found 2 such entries
>> one under 'playerdata' > {some long randomish line of characters} > 'pos'
>> The other under 'level.dat' > 'Data' > 'Player' > 'Pos'
Changing the first one didn't seem to work but changing the second one I found my player had moved from the original position of 2 56 6.4 to 200 56 640
I am now able to successfully teleport away from the troubled chunk and continue playing. When I attempt to teleport back it crashes again. So I will work on a way to get back without crashing. Thank you!
definately sounds like the chunk is corrupted.. or maybe a chunk within your view distance
You say you tp back to location. .. but have you tried walking to it and as soon as it gets within view range the game crashes? (try turning view down to 1 chunk so that you can determine if its that chunk or not)
Is there anything important in that chunk or surrounding area? if not you may be able to recover the world by deleting the damaged chunk(s)
I've never had this problem but iirc there is a way of deleting individual chunks in a world & getting the game to regen them once you revisit them but you need to know which chunk(s) to delete
I most probably saw a youtube video on how to do this (for SOME reason I'm thinking xsumavoid did a video of a cleanup on hermitcraft server of 'old chunks' or maybe pythongGB did one about resetting chunks but I could be wrong)
EDIT: OK I found one of the videos I thought of - this one is done by PythonGB
What he explains is how to KEEP certain chunks & removing everything else around them so that all chunks get re-genned. looking at video what you would/may have to do is the oppositie
Where he says [from 7:30] ''we want to keep 7,-1.... & delete everything else" you would need to do the opposite by "deleting {corrupted chuck xx,yy}... and keep everything else"
If you try this - make sure you backup your (corrupted) world just in case things go totllay wrong
Yes I agree I have approached from another angle and now that I am within 200 blocks of where I was stuck the game immediately crashes. I had this issue previously but I was able to run away from it, save and exit, rinse and repeat until the game stopped crashing. The crash from 200 blocks away is with render down to 2 chunks. So it must be multiple chunks? To affect me as far as 200 blocks away. I also cannot optimize my world (everytime I do so it says "Failed :(" at 24%) I'll give that video a view.Thank you for all of the assistance CannonFoddr.

The resolution involves having someone else teleport the player away but this is a single player world. How should I resolve?
Try using NBTExplorer..

Glad to be of help.. Never had any corrupted chunks so I've learnt something new myself & hope this helps.
Fingers cross you can delete those iffy chucks (hope you don't lose too much if there's a build/construction in those chunks) & it all works out fine
