I am hoping someone can help me out, because I have had to stop playing since the Aquatic Update in the Java version. I have never used mods, though I did use MCedit to prune the edges a few years back.
As soon as I updated, my world started to have terrible "block lag". I can move at normal speed, but everything else in the world is laggy (including mobs). Everything from placing blocks to eating is very slow, riding in mine carts too.
It's not my computer either, it's something with my existing world. I have the same problem across 3 different machines, a 2012 MacBook Pro, a 2017 Alienware Laptop (with a 1070), and a high end custom built PC with a GTX 1080 in it. The problem is less bad on the more powerful machines, but these are computers that should not have any issues running this game.
It is also specific to my world. If I fire up a new one, things run fine.
My world is quite old, and quite large for one that is a solo play. I also have quite a lot of complex machines (including a very large item sorter), but the issue happens even when I am far enough away that it shouldn't be rendering.
One thing that I did consider is that I have used a ton of jack-o-lanterns for lights (in place of torches) and many of them are floating in the air, I used the place dirt and then remove it to get them to float. With the change to being able to place them without that support, maybe my existing ones are somehow causing an issue.
If anyone has ideas I am open to them, I have many thousands of hours into this world and want to keep building. Thanks for the help!

Say something silly, Laugh 'til it hurts, Take a risk, Sing out loud, Rock the boat, Shake things up, Flirt with disaster, Buy something frivolous, Color outside the lines, Cause a scene, Order dessert, Make waves, Get carried away, Have a great day!
Sorry about that, I started getting those messages again after deleting some of the files in my world folder in an attempt to solve this block lag problem.
Try allocating less memory to Minecraft, try -Xmx1G or -Xmx2G in your JVM arguments.
Allocating too much memory will degrade performances.

Disable GeForce experience overlay or other overlays for that matter.

And this issue actually started on my Macbook Pro running OS X. It's a less powerful machine, but until the Aquatic Update had no issues running MC or this world.
It's odd to have this problem only on this world across 3 different computers running two different operating systems,

Post a screenshot with F3 enabled and your JVM arguments.
Here is a screenshot.
I had the advanced JMV options disabled until I just tried to change Minecraft to use 8 gigs (didnt help), it was set to 2 gigs before that.
-Xmx8G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M
Thanks for the help!
Can't see memory usage in your screenshot.

Looks like the memory usage is very low.

I had it set to 2G until this morning, it didn’t help.
But thanks for the info, I will set it back.

All of that stuff should be off.

Ok if it is specific to that world, try the tips in here https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-java-edition/discussion/297844-official-corrupted-save-recovery-thread
Thanks for the suggestion, that looks to be exactly what I need.
