I am aware that many people have already reported this issue, however I have yet been able to find an answer. When I try to join any minecraft server on any version, i get this error message:
This happened when I tried to connect to my OWN server as well. I could connect using localhost, but I got the same message when trying the ip. My friend could connect to my lan world using hamachi over the internet, but I could not connect to his. I think this could be a firewall issue, but I don't know as I can connect to any other game's servers fine. Recently I had Norton installed, however it was only after a week or 2 of it being installed did this issue crop up. It could have been a windows update? Regardless, I could really do with some support, as I want to play minceraft X_x

Edit: I have tried the usual stuff, restarting laptop, disabling firewall etc..
Have not reinstalled minecraft as others have stated this doesn't help.
