Trying to help my daughter - Not sure if Windows or Minecraft issue but only happens when running Minecraft
Running on a two year old laptop running Windows 10 - no problems until the other day when she tried to play. Double clicked the launcher shortcut and got the following error:
Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point cef_api_hash could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft\game\launcher.dll
Did the following - checked for malware - None
Checked for viruses - None
From command window - SFC /scannow - no issues
From command window - DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth - no issues
deleted .minecraft folder in appdata area
moved saves folder out of appdata area
reinstalled minecraft after making sure Java was updated
Still get same error.
Help is appreciated for computer user who knows enough to be dangerous but not an expert.
Malwarebytes ADWCleaner is an utility to clean a PC which is infested with malware. Download it here: https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1
Run it, click Scan Now, once it completes the scan click Clean & Repair, restart the computer when it asks you to and come back here for further instructions.[/p]
Norton's Antivirus program and firewall are known to interfere with Minecraft's login and server-joining process. Currently the only way to fix it is to uninstall it.[/p]
She has Malwarebytes on her computer - already ran it before I posted above and it indicated no malware found.
She has had Norton Antivirus/firewall on her computer since I bought the computer two years ago - never had an issue logging into Minecraft in those two years. I am not uninstalling it so her computer is defenseless.

I ran the ADWcleaner which found something Malwarebytes standard program did not find. I did the Scan and the Clean and Repair and put the log files at https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/qXyvwTSQvP/ in case you wanted to see them. Still have same error since I figured I may as well try since you did not tell me what to do next.

Seems weird that the computer would work for two years and not now. Has the computer always had windows 10? I'm currently running Minecraft on a computer with Norton and it seems fine, usually Norton would block the game's access to the internet, thus blocking the ability to join servers, but it appears the game is crashing even before the launcher shows up, is that true?
I would say, just to test, use the old launcher and see if that works. I've seen some computers that simply refuse to use the new launcher and work fine with the old launcher. Go here:
and download the old launcher, the one under "Windows Alternative" which is just Minecraft.exe, and run that. It will pop up a warning that it's the old launcher and it will need to reset the settings, let it do so, just be sure to have the login and password handy. If it works, then you may be able to go back to using the new launcher, but if not, then you might be stuck using the old one.
If it doesn't work, then I have no other ideas.

I've run an HP desktop through Comcast since Mar of 2015.
Free Norton is one of the benefits of using Comcast.
I have never had any problem with Norton and MC together...
Norton does like to balk on anything without a huge record of downloads. Some Mods are problematic. I get tense when Norton tells me I cannot download something to MY computer.
That is the only trouble Norton has ever given me...
ADWCeaner has found one or two malware programs (on the initial test, nothing since) and I use Norton extensively!

Download: https://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/files/2.0.5%20beta/HijackThis.exe/download
Run HijackThis as Administrator, choose "I accept", then "Do a system scan and save a log file". After a while a text file will open. Copy everything, put the log on https://paste.ubuntu.com and give us the link.[/p]

I did this and got a pop up window that I selected OK from and it completed. See log at https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/GH5jc7Y9HR/
Run it, click Scan Now, once it completes the scan click Clean & Repair, restart the computer when it asks you to and come back here for further instructions.[/p]

Using the alternative launcher worked just fine. Thanks for the tip!
