So let me tell you my ideas real fast, i am a pvper from the minecraft community, we use both 1.8 and 1.7.10 for pvp and or different servers. i recently had to delete my minecraft because of an issue that was related to switching back and forth because settings change up everytime i go back and forth (render settings, graphic settings lighting resolution etc) its annoying so instead of like changing settings each time is it still possible to create multiple installations of minecraft like example: you got the default location of minecraft the first one you installed then can youi make it so you can install a new minecraft but put it in a different location with all new settings and basically a fresh installation of minecraft while having one already on your computer?
idk if have ideas or solutions i'd love to hear
Thanks!
(also i can link that video of someone doing it, the problem is the launcher is different now so its outdated unlesss im doing it wrong)
wow i did not even know that was possible. so everytime i run the game that has a different set directory it will load everything in its files without effecting the others?

Use separate game directories for different versions.

Yes, worlds, game settings, resource packs, servers etc.
