So I have a private 1.12.2 minecraft server running mekanism and some other mods. Just today i saw this odd chunk thing appear in my world. What caused this to happen? it was never there before, and I am scared one might appear in my base and destroy everything! The drive my server is loaded on has ~70 GB of free space. I have provided am image.
Yes, I am sure it is there. As far as i can tell, it behaves perfectly normal. I can break blocks, blocks drop items, mobs interact with it, etc. I should note that I have the chunk loader from Chicken Chunks loading basically all of my base, and the chunk anomaly IS NOT inside the affected area of the chunk loader.(It is just outside of the area.)

if you have world edit you can remove and regenerate the chunk, may have happened due to a saving issue, did the server shut down unexpectadly at some point?
Yeah, the server shut down a while ago when my friend just unplugged my computer as a "prank" and that deleted my inventory and some other stuff. I don't know if that caused it, because I didn't go over there at the time. I will try regenerating the chunk with worldedit.
Seems like the world seed was changed and that chunk just happened to regenerate somehow. If regenerating again doesn't work make sure the world seed is same as before.
One way this happens is basically 2 worlds merge together when the world isn’t created correctly and generates chunks from another world along with its own chunks. I found a glitch that didn’t need external modifications to deliberately create these whenever I wanted. I now have 24 of these worlds

it might not actually be there, have you restarted the game/server since you saw this?

It looks like chunks swapped positions.
