We need to see your crash log, which is created after a crash.
On your launcher, click "Launch options", and click the instance you are using. Then, click the small green arrow in the "Game directory" line. In the folder that opens, open the crash-reports folder, then open the most recent text file and copy its content to https://paste.ubuntu.com. Click "Paste!", then share with us the link (the URL) that it takes you to.
Say something silly, Laugh 'til it hurts, Take a risk, Sing out loud, Rock the boat, Shake things up, Flirt with disaster, Buy something frivolous, Color outside the lines, Cause a scene, Order dessert, Make waves, Get carried away, Have a great day!
As tails has pointed out - your problen seems to be the same as that bug report & it does say something about
'Currently in game work around involves having an admin teleport the player away from the triggering area before the crash'
Now I'm not saying this will work but IIRC inside the world save file there is NBT data or which one is 'playerdata' & this contains the x/y/z position of the player.
By using a program like 'nbtexplorer' you may be able to change this position to somewhere 'safe' (like spawn perhaps) & this MAY allow you to load the world in without crashing. Whether the world crashes again when you go to the same damaged chunk area again I don't know
There are also ways to repair corrupted worlds , but I would suggest backing up the corrupted world first (zip it up perhaps) before attempting this just in case it does more damage that it fixes.
(I'm only suggesting this as I've never had a corrupted world to try it out myself, & it's always best to be 'safe than sorry'
If you're not confortable in attempting it yourself.. maybe you can upload the corrupted world somewhere & post a link to it & maybe there's someone who had experience to stuff like this & they could make the attempt
I know you said you already got it to work but I second NBTexplorer, it has let me teleport away from trouble chunks a few times, and it works better than MCEdit (which is a great program but teleporting players doesn't seem to work for some reason).
we just had our power go out so my computer did not shut down properly.
when I try to play the world I was in, it tries to load in but then crashes.
other worlds work fine. just not the one that I was playing when the power went out.
no I did not have a backup.
am I done with that world or is there a way to fix it?

so basically there is no way for me to continue playing that world.

Next time, make backups!
