Which launcher version are you using? The “new” launcher which is executable-based, either in .deb or in tar.gz format or the old java Minecraft.jar? Try to launch either via the console and report the ouput.

It's dependency problem, you need the Gnome Accessibility Library installed.
It seems that Minecraft isn't packaged in a right way, it should have pulled the dependency automatically.
If you google the error, you'll find here [https://askubuntu.com/questions/695560/assistive-technology-not-found-error-while-building-aprof-plot] two courses of action:
* Install the libaccess-java-bridge package (I don't use Ubuntu so I have no idea if this is the right name to use with apt, but you should find it in the graphical package manager and discover the correct name by yourself)
"An unexpected error has occured"
ubuntu 18.4 lts
updated my java 8 version today with apt
changing resolution in launch options doesnt help
what should I do?

* Disable the the assistive tecnology:
Coment the line (by putting # in front, in this example it's already been done) and save.
I modified the line to issue gedit instead of vim because it's more user-friendly, but use the editor you wish.
Hope this helps.
problem fixed, I removed open-jdk and replaced with oracle java 8
Wonderful.
I play with openjdk and have no issue, it's a problem of packaging
