Here's my situation. Playing 1.12 I was getting around 70FPS, and when I downloaded the 1.13 update I was getting about the same, but my computers fans were going bezerk and I couldn't enjoying playing the update aquatic with my computer sounding like it was about to explode. So, in an effort to fix the problem, I decided to uninstall and reinstall minecraft. After I reinstalled, the fans on my computer were no longer running, but I was getting about 15FPS! Didn't mess with my settings at all I just deleted minecraft and reinstalled it. I've tried all combinations of video settings and nothing changes.
Here are my specs:
2017 Macbook Pro 15 inch
i7 processor 2.2ghz
16GB RAM
P.S. The game is doing some other weird things as well; The default texture pack is only working 75%? As in, I can see the new textures for the bark blocks and the corals, but I still see the old 1.12 leaves and wood plank textures..? Also, changing my full screen resolution under video settings does nothing. I've tried all different settings and there is no visible difference or change in fps.
I swear I will venmo 15 dollars to anyone who can help me with this problem. I've been dying to play 1.13 so badly. Thankyou!

Post a screenshot with F3 enabled and your JVM arguments.
1.13 is very unoptimized and buggy, my pc can´t handle it either, it´s unplayeble for me.
Try task manager, find Java, go to details, set higher priority.
