to begin with, I have just got an old laptop for IT classes from my dad. I downloaded minecraft which is a classic for me and found the problem which i still cant resolve until this day, I have searched online for the problem and i found that my graphics card's drivers are so old and i had to update them. i have a mobile intel 45 express chipset and i installed all driver updating programs and even searched manually but still it seems like i have the latest version. some people told me to update my motherboard but it was made by my laptop's company which is very bad so there was no support for motherboard drivers and i looked online for some time and found someone with the opengl32.dll available for download and he showed how to make it work for those who have this problem. i did what he said and it actually worked! but it was highly unstable and ran at 9-12 fps at lowest settings with optifine which made it unplayable. i thought this was because of my bad hardware specs but everyone in the comments said that they have the same problem and i knew that this was no way near the fps that i should get. so as a last resort i am here to ask for any help. i played minecraft on pc for 2 years from 2014-2016 and then got a ps4 and i play on it occasionally but it is nowhere as near as fun as pc. if anyone helped fix this problem he would be a life saviour for me. thanks.
Say something silly, Laugh 'til it hurts, Take a risk, Sing out loud, Rock the boat, Shake things up, Flirt with disaster, Buy something frivolous, Color outside the lines, Cause a scene, Order dessert, Make waves, Get carried away, Have a great day!
You could try to play an older version; for example, the minimum requirements for 1.6 called for a Pentium 4 (from as early as 2000; clock speed is not even mentioned) and Intel GMA 950 graphics (from 2006) or a GeForce 6000 series (from 2004) or Radeon 9000 (from 2002); the recommended are not much newer (mid-2000s specs):
(the recommended for 1.6 don't come even close to the current minimum, which are actually close to a modern gaming PC and likely exceed the requirements of the majority of the player base; my own computer no longer meets the requirements (after having it for less than 2 years) but has no issues at all running 1.6.4, even with extensive mods, same for an older computer I had which fell below the minimum in 1.8. Also, it is worth noting that the current requirements, which were updated in April, are likely for 1.13, not 1.12.2, as 1.12.2 actually runs well on my computer)
well this laptop is the best i'll get at the moment. i do gaming mainly on my ps4 so upgrading is not an option. 1.6.4 still gets pixel format not accelerated. it is ok though. i can still play minecraft on ps4. thanks everyone

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
