-I have a laptop running Windows 10 (it came that way, no hope of downgrading to Win7)
-I've used the Win7/8 64-bit drivers he found here
(and here's where it usually starts working for everybody else whom it works for:...)
-I downgraded Java to Java 8 update 45 (and I've also tried update 51).
It still won't launch giving me the same "pixel format not accelerated" and "RuntimeException: No OpenGL context found in the current thread" errors. I know it should work. This chipset is more than capable of running Minecraft. It's just that Intel's Win10 drivers apparently don't give any credence to OpenGL (Minecraft Windows 10 Edition works just fine, and I assume it's using Direct3D). The Win7/8 drivers apparently still do support OpenGL, and have worked for other people, but for whatever reason it's not working for me. What's also weird is that other OpenGL games work just fine like GZDoom, Serious Sam Revolution, Half-Life, etc.
I've also tried using the version of Java bundled with the official Minecraft Launcher/Installer. No dice. Same error.
I've checked my device manager and I seem to be using the actual proper driver version number that it's supposed to be. Could Windows still somehow be utilizing the newer driver in spite of what I'm reading? I'm at a loss. Another strange thing of note is that in the crash log in the system details section it says my version of Java is 1.8.0_171, even though in the beginning of the log it says 1.8.0_51 and MultiMC is confirmed to be using update 51 after testing, using the global version, and just pointing to it directly.
One solution is that I could simply install (or dual-boot) Linux (and I'd get even better performance), but there's so much I still need Windows for. I simply can't walk away and accept it won't work when it's been proven to work for others. There's something I'm missing here. I'd appreciate any insight that isn't just "face it, it just won't work". It does work. Or "upgrade, bro". I've got a nice beastly desktop rig that runs Minecraft just fine. I want it running on my laptop as well as it bloody well should be able to.
I'm lost and confused. Again, thanks for any and all help.
And yet again i repeat the same thing posted on many many many threads with this issue of hardware that is not supported under windows 10
Unfortunately your graphics hardware is not supported on Windows 10, you will need to downgrade to Windows 7, upgrade your graphics hardware (Not possible on a laptop), or use another computer to play Minecraft.
Any forcing of drivers from windows 7/8 to run on windows 10 is a temp fix and can/will break in time
I want to know why it works for others and not for me. Saying it's not supported by Win10 is not an answer. Yes it is. It clearly works. I want to nail this down. Give me a better more explanatory reason than what I already know. Explain why it works for some and not for others with the same OS, same hardware, and same drivers. Especially when other OpenGL games works just fine.
The easy answer as to why it works for some and not you is, luck, and as i said, its a temp fix, it will break for those who got lucky.
It may also be down to something they have in their system setup you don't have, but honestly thats beyond the support given here, the computer you are using is below the requirements for minecraft now anyway, you will be needing to upgrade sooner than later as with each update minecraft gets the less the change of your computer being able to run the game at a decent pace ignoring the fact your hardware isn't windows 10 supported
You didn't read my post. I said I have a nice beastly desktop that's more than enough to handle MC. This is a secondary system. Sick of the "upgrade, bro" comments.

I've scoured countless corners of the internet and found that about half the people can get it to work and the other half can't. This reddit thread seems to have the most relevant information in one place. He mentions exactly my problem.
