I'm trying to launch Minecraft but each time I press 'Play' a box pops up with:
Error : (
Unable to locate the Java runtime.
Under "Unable to locate the Java runtime" you can click where it says 'See more details' and it shows up with this:
Unable to locate the Java runtime.
Error details: The system cannot find the file specified
Filename on disk: javaw.exe
Path: C:/Program Files (x86)\Minecraft\runtime\jre-x64\1.8.0_51\bin\javaw.exe
Exists: false
Now I've seen posts like this asking what to do, and some of them have said to go to the Minecraft folder and delete the runtime folder. I tried doing that and went back in and pressed 'play'. Again, the same thing. I also restarted the launch of Minecraft and also deleted the runtime folder and the same thing pops up.
(I should probably mention that I just uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft due to when I tried launching it, even when I played before, it would still take loads of time with a launch screen; then it would restart launching all over again after about halfway. I also just installed Java because it was telling me I didn't have Java on my computer.)
I went to Launch Options, turned on Advanced Settings, and clicked on the 1.10.2 configuration to see if there was anything I could change. Under the part that I highlighted in a screenshot, that's next to a box labeled '<Use bundled Java runtime>' I clicked a folder to see what it was, and it was looking for a javaw.exe file that I didn't have.
I've provided screenshots of some of the process, and if you have any further questions, please ask me.
I looked and there is no javaw.exe installed on my computer... is it supposed to come with Java when you install it? Or is a different application that needs installed?
I was having some problems installing Java so it might not have installed correctly
This issue is caused by problems with your Permissions. To fix it, start Minecraft as an Administrator.
Install Java by executing JavaSetup8u171.exe.
Edit the profile setting to point at an existing Java installation.

are you sure you have the latest version of java for your computer?
Yes, I just checked. I have the latest version of Java installed.
In that case simply point it to an existing java version.
What would the Java file look like? I don't want to test random Java files and ruin the game somehow
Also that runs on Java executive, and I read that you want to keep that off.
Well if by default it looks for javaw.exe point to an actually installed javaw.exe

Then delete all Java versions and install the latest one and try again.
I completely reinstalled Java with the last version, and I restarted Minecraft. Now I have a different message showing up.
