Hi there everyone. I'm typing my own forum post as a last resort. To preface, I have googled to try and find solutions to my problem with no avail, and hoping someone can at least give me some ideas on where to head or what to look at from here. Anyway, onto the problem:
My friend hosts a modded MC server from his home (Wisconsin), and we have a group of us that play together on it. Most of the connections to his server are closer to him than I am (Arizona). I have this issue that has seemingly popped up out of nowhere, where minecraft is showing a decent ping, anywhere from 100ms-500ms, but then upon joining the server, it is unplayable. The world loads but is unresponsive to my actions. To give you all a clue as to what I'm experiencing, I did the "/ping" command and timed how long it took for the server to push the results out to me. It took a little over 3 minutes.
Here is some extra info that may take questions out of consideration:
- My connection is wired.
- The only antivirus protection I use is Windows Defender.
- Using speedtest.net to the closest server, I get 14mbps down, 3mbps up.
- Using speedtest.net to the closest server to my friend in Wisconsin, I get 11mbps down, 3mbps up.
- As previously mentioned, this seems to come out of nowhere, as the server was playing nice with me about 3 days prior
That's all the info I can think of off the top of my head that would be of use to you all. From what I have read, this seems to be an issue from my friend's side & his server not playing nice with me. If anyone out there could give me any more of an in-depth explanation than that, that would be wonderful.
Thank you MC Community!
