Im not a fan of the new MC versions , so i usually play the older ones , recently Beta 1.7.
I loaded a new world and suprisingly , there's no sound at all
the resources folder is empty in .minecraft , and i still didn't find a fix to it
PS : ive checked the sound plugins and drivers , and still didn't work..
