I am running minecraft on an Alienware laptop. I recently got a GTX 1060 3GB so I run it now and I still only get 70 fps max. I mean its fine having 70 fps because my monitor is only 60Hz but I'd like to see my real fps. Before I got my 1060 I had a GTX 960M and it still maxed 70 fps. It's only minecraft that does this. Every other game I can run any fps I want. Like I said in the title my Vsync is off and I have it on unlimited fps. I think its something to do my with my NVIDIA settings but I have no clue what to do. I've seen videos where they are running the same graphics card as I am and they are getting 400+ fps.
-Specs-
CPU - Intel Core i7-6500 @2.50 GHz and 2.59 GHz
GPU - GTX 1060 3gb
RAM - 16 GB of ram (I've put 4 into minecraft)
Please help as this has been a problem for at least 3 months now. There aren't alot of forums about fps capping on minecraft but I've tried almost everything that every forum or video has said.
In the Nvidia control panel, set up an application rule to run javaw.exe on the Nvidia card instead of the integrated graphics card.

I think it might be something to do with my fullscreen because when im in windowed mode I get 300+ fps but as soon as I go in full screen it caps at 70. My resolution is 3200x1800 which is pretty high. Is there a way I could possibly change it? I know there's a way to change it in the launcher but is there a way to change it in fullscreen? Also as you can see I am running the GTX 1060.
Minecraft isn't the best-optimized game out there, it's possible you're going to be stuck at 70 with that high a resolution in fullscreen. I'm impressed the game doesn't slow to a total crawl at that res. Using windowed mode has been a fix to increase FPS for a long time already.

I hooked up my monitor which was a 1920x1080 and used it on minecraft. I went in my NVIDIA settings and gysnc was off. Now it's disconnected and it's still locked at 70 fps. I'm pretty sure its my laptops resolution which is 3200x1800. It's really high. Is there a way I could change the resolution without my screen getting smaller. Like just make everything a bit more blurry?

Post a screenshot with F3 enabled and your JVM arguments.
I think this is what you're talking about? - https://i.gyazo.com/43465b694faab65186eb6b2310e0bcdd.png

Turn down your render distance and disable GeForce experience overlay.
I turned my render to 2 chunks and disabled the geforce overlay. I'm still only getting 70

I just run mc on my normal laptop screen but at one point I did hook it up to a monitor. Ill try to hook it up later and see if it helps.
