I haven't had a frame rate problem with any other version of MC, but the 18w21b snapshot is alternating between more than 150 fps and 2 or 3 fps. It runs smoothly for a few seconds, and then becomes a slide show for half a minute or so. Is it just my system, or is anybody else experiencing this?
On Edit: Correct typo that original read "13w21b" instead of "18w21b"
Why are you playing a snapshot version that's 5 years old? But to answer your question, snapshot versions aren't always stable. That's why it isn't a release version.

Opps! my typo. It's 18w21b
But even so, I'm watching YT vids that show 18w21b without that horrible lag I'm getting.
Nope. Release versions run very high frame rates. That's why it surprised me so much. The last time I saw such bad frame rates was when I tried to play MC on an old laptop. (That was a failed experiment!)
I tried to get a screenshot, but when I restarted the game it ran just fine at 150 to 250 fps. Now that I think about it, it only started happening after I had been playing for a couple of hours straight. If it were written in C++ I might suspect a memory leak, but I thought JAVA's memory management prevented that.
Oh well. I guess I'll wait for the release version and see what happens.

Moderatordoes this happen in release versions?
post a screenshot of the F3 screen
I'm not sure. If this isn't the case with 18w21a, I'd suggest sticking with that until the next snapshot is released. It must be an isolated incident
