I bought my son Minecraft Java for Windows 10 a week ago. Since then I've been unable to get it working. It loads to to Mojang screen, then crashes. It only gives me "An unexpected error occurred" type message. I checked the programs it doesn't work with, and have non of them installed. I'm running Java 8. I've tried uninstalling Minecraft, Java, and restarting my PC. I'm running it as an admin account.
Help? I'm not tech savvy and my poor boy is desperate to play! I have no idea what to troubleshoot or even what I'm looking for.
minecraft windows 10 edition is not written in java and therefore that would not be your issue, this is the java forum and i am not an expert in bedrock but will attempt to help. minecraft should have created a log to tell you what happened but i am unsure where you would find it in the bedrock edition
Turns out I'm clueless. I had my other son check for me. It's Java edition running on Windows SEVEN. I bought it off Minecraft.net, so I have both and got them mixed up.

Oh shoot. I'm almost positive when I bought it that it said it was the Java edition.
you may just be confused, did you buy the game from minecraft.net or from the microsoft store?
