I have recently managed to get hold of my very first minecraft world, which I had made about 6-7 years ago. As you can imagine, I want to have some nostalgia and have a play around on these worlds, although when I look for these worlds in my Minecraft save folder, I can see them, but in game I cannot. I believe this is some sort of incompatibility issue. If someone could help me resolve this, that would be amazing. I have the original .minecraft folder I used, and the laptop I used when I played on those world saves.
The world needs to be converted by opening it in different versions from before. I don't know exactly what order you need to do it, but yeah, thats the problem.

f your world was in BETA 1.2: release 1.0 -> 1.7.10 -> 1.12.2
if your world was in RELEASE 1.2 : 1.7.10 -> 1.12.2
beawear, that some bugs will occur, namely, ocean temple spawning in already generated terrain, and a bug with new generated terrain, if you want more detail, check this video out
Would it be easier for me to post my old .minecraft folder somewhere for you guys to check? The problem isn't it doesn't work when I load it, rather it seems to be such an old save file that it doesn't even show up in my list of singleplayer worlds

Only post the save file if you do. Posting the whole .minecraft file would be breaching Mojangs T&Cs and the forums rules.
I uploaded the save files I can't access. I believe 1 of them is my very first world. Perhaps someone could find a way to play them, whether it's converting the file to be compatible with modern Minecraft, or somehow using a previous version to access them.

Give me a few minutes
Edit:
two of the maps are definatly dead or incomplete (make sure you uploaded everything)
worstseedever and The Dam 2 are most likely savable, trying now
Edit2, i sucessfully loaded The Dam 2 world, not sure if the content survived.
Maybe use MCEdit to remove the corrupted chunks, and then fill them back in with blank chunks? They would render with the new terrain and likely be very different, but it at least should work.

problem is i don't know what version the game was made in and the seed is lost, if i knew the seed i could regen the correct chunks but without it its almost impossible without causing the above

Considering he gave the seed(worstseedever, numeric -1446162294), it should be possible.

Alpha 1.0.4
you will need to load the map in beta 1.3 and then load it in any modern version of the game.
