i used to run minecraft on 300ish fps. but as of a few months ago, it now doesnt go above 40. i have good specs and i have already increased the ram allocated so thats not it. another thing to add is that fps is low in game but straight after i alt tab back into the game it shows 200-300fps for a second then drops straight back down again. i think i narrowed it down to a problem with java because i tried running the windows 10 edition and i had very high fps. i know its not a problem with the hardware in my pc as i run games like gta at 60fps+.
Something else to note, you have 6GB of RAM allocated to Minecraft. Assuming you only have 8GB RAM, that could be degrading system performace by quite a bit.
Also, you are using a Intel Core i5 7300HQ. This is not a bad CPU, but I'd advise using the default texture pack and 12-16 render distance for optimal performance. It is a myth that Minecraft is an easy game to run, and Minecraft also demands a powerful CPU for optimal performance.
