I recently installed minecraft on my laptop. Said laptop runs a Linux distro, Peppermint 8, and I freshly installed Minecraft.
I couldn't play for the past two days because after launching the game I would get no splash screen but just a white screen. I could still hear the soundtrack and buttons clicking, but no actual game would appear.
I fiddled with the Edit Profile option and discovered that versions 1.8 and up do not work actually and share the same exact issue.
Since I do need 1.8 to play online, how do I fix this?
My laptop is a Acer TravelMate 290, 2 GB ram and 32 bit Intel Pentium M CPU.
Say something silly, Laugh 'til it hurts, Take a risk, Sing out loud, Rock the boat, Shake things up, Flirt with disaster, Buy something frivolous, Color outside the lines, Cause a scene, Order dessert, Make waves, Get carried away, Have a great day!

Your computer is an antiquity and doesn't meet Minecraft's system requirements:

Time for a new computer.
I guess you have a point. Yet I was able to play the 1.6 version. Oh well.
