Every once in a while when I host a map via LAN, when I try to save and quit the world, my game will not respond, sometimes completely crash. Most of the time I am playing a minecraft map that uses lots of command blocks, so maybe that could have something to do with it. This hasn't always happened.
I don't have the best specs ever, but I don't think there is any reason for this, considering I've used much worse.
