I am currently on minecraft java edition and when putting replaymod-1.8-2.1.0.jar into my mods folder and attempting to launch the game causes the game to crash immediately and send me back to the launcher with a crash report. I cannot open play minecraft but when i remove it (the replaymod-1.8-2.1.0.jar out of my mods folder) it works fine.
The crash report is unhelpful as it only says "GAME CRASH An unexpected error occurred and the game has crashed. We're sorry for the inconvenience".
Closing the launcher and reopening it does not change the effect.
I assume you're trying to run this on Minecraft 1.8 - if not then you've got the wrong version of replaymod for the version of Minecraft.
I also assume you have the correct FORGE version for 1.8 as well - according to their webpage it should be Forge 1.8-11.14.4.1563
I've never used this so I don't know it FFmpeg is a 'required' file or whether Replaymod works without it - have you got it installed ??
I'm also surprised there isn't any crash log files... have you looked in the .minecraft folder to see if there's any 'log' files.. it may not necessarily be a minecraft log file , but perhaps a forge crashlog may exist - & that might have info in it for other to get a better idea what might be causing it

yes the version i have for replay mod is 1.8 so you are correct.

Ahh Ok MY Forge version (or prof name) says "1.8.9-forge1.8.9-11.15.1.1722 - forge" instead of Forge 1.8-11.14.4.1563. However even when i installed a 1.8 forge folder it didnt make a new one which meant it sort of did nothing.

Well i have no idea what an FFmpeg is but i couldnt find it in my folder or where to install.

I checked the log folder and (btw thanks for letting me know you can check logs i thought that was chat logs or something) the crash log never opened :P. I dont know why but i hope you can help.
here is the link to the mods download i picked the Replay Mod v1.8-2.0.0 version > https://www.replaymod.com/download/
> When I got home I went & launched the launcher - went to the [Launch options] and 'Add new' a 1.8 instance
- I then went back to [News] & launched it (to make sure that ran OK) - which it did
> I then downloaded the recommended Forge version from the Replay website (forge-1.8-11.14.4.1577-installer-win.exe) & ran it - 7 it was 'successful'
- I then chose the new 'Forge 1.8-forge1.8-11.14.4.1577' profile & ran that to make sure that worked OK - which it did
> I then downloaded the replay mod > browsed to my minecraft's Mod folder (C:\Users\*name*\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\mods\) & copied the replaymod into this folder
- Then I restarted the 'Forge' profile & everything worked just fine - the game launched up - the main screen showed several new buttons (replay viewer/replay editor/replay centre) & even create a single player world & went into it without much problems (I had a bit of lag when forst walking around)
So I'm not sure what could be happening with you.
Unless this is one of those weird windows 10 glitches (I'm using windows 8.1 - don't know what you're using) then I can only suggest backing up your .minecraft folder & storing it somewhere safe, deleting the contents of the original & reinstalling minecraft one bit at a time, running it each time to make sure that part works first before adding the next bit...
Um how I got around this was because I wanted to play older versions of minecraft, I downloaded the Twitch app, and then went into Minecraft, I downloaded any modpack, didn't matter which one I chose, I then clicked Launch options then Historical Versions from that point on I can get any version I wanted Then I just hit play when it's downloaded
