I am playing on servers like Hypixel and Mineplex with around 100+ FPS yet I get these stupid lag spikes where everything freezes for 2 seconds every 5 seconds. I am honestly furious since a computer I had back when I was younger never had these and it was like a grain of salt compared to the one I use now. Any way I can fix this stupid issue?
Edit: Just found out that even on the smallest servers this happens <:{
Lag can be used to mean a number of different things and some of them are unrelated to FPS [which is primarily driven by local/client processing capacity].
No matter how fast your box is, if the server or the connection isn't providing all the needed update information in a timely fashion, you will experience a form of lag.

OH, I know why! Your RAM gets filled up, so your hard drive tries to take it's place, but fails miserably, because hard drives are slow! Look up minecraft launch arguments on the internet and allocate more RAM!
I searched up Allocate more RAM and found a tutorial. I have a big box that has a 1TB storage but my Settings says I have 16 GB of Installed RAM. What should I do?
I also just checked and when I turn on JVM arguments on the launcher, I don't know where to edit the place that changes the RAM used. Currently it says
EDIT: Nevermind, I found out how to change it, but I still don't know if I should since I bought a PC that had 16Gb but the Big box I have has a D: Drive with 1TB. I don't know if I should change it since I don't know if it will use the 1TB in the big box or my C: Drive! EDIT: Just realized we are talking about RAM and not storage, but I am still going to wait for you to reply since I am not 100% sure.
Ok, I am wondering if it's better that it isn't using the 1TB hard drive or not. Just want to make sure I am getting good quality gameplay and keeping my computer healthy at the same time ;D!

If your RAM gets overloaded, the game is using your hard drive, which causes lag and uses up your drive. Allocate more RAM (not storage space lol) to Minecraft using those arguments. I reccomend 4 gigs.
You can try making a pagefile size of 100GB in your 1TB drive and giving Minecraft a max use of 1 MB so it tries to use the HDD.
Of course, as the HDD is made of mechanical parts, it takes MUCH longer to reach information so the game might not even open up.
This means that the HDD can NOT be used as RAM. RAM Is a kind of memory that can access information very fast so it is able to load things in the game at a time. When the amount of ram given to Minecraft is exceeded, Minecraft will start to use the pagefile in the drive which will make it nearly unresponsive as the HDD can't access the information fast enough.
No, you don't use the HDD as ram. Possibly an SSD can be better for page file but RAM is still faster.

Psst!, If I have grammar or spelling errors, correct me. You will help improve my English.

Post a screenshot with F3 enabled and your JVM arguments.
JVM Arguments?
ScotsMiser, When the laggings starts, EVERY server starts to do the same thing to me.
Heres the link to the video where my F3 is enabled :

Curse PremiumAre you using Optifine? It has a setting that lowers your overall fps, but removes lag spikes!

-Xmx8G -Xms2G
go to the last tab in the launcher (launch options) and activate the last switch (advanced settings)
Then select the "profile" you want and enable JVM arguments, erase everything and paste what I've put above.
It should allow your miencraft to use up to 8 GB of RAM.
And no, it won't use your 1TB hard drive.

Ok, thanks to everyone who helped me figure this out! I'll probably make a new thread if something goes wrong so thanks!!!!
