Because my school blocks the MC authentication servers, I'm unable to play online at school. My launcher still has me signed in if I was previously signed in, but if not it asks me to sign in and can't (blocked). So I decided to use a vpn. I used the vpn while already logged in, opened the launcher and... have to sign in. I tried signing in and it says invalid username or password, despite being correct in every possible way, and ultimately can't sign in until I get home. This is not a problem with the VPN.
recap:
school blocks auth server, can't log in if not logged in already, and can launch mc offline if logged in already
VPN unblocks auth server, can't log in and kicks me off if already logged in, can't play period
problem #2 occurs on your end, not mine nor the VPN's
It 'IS' a problem with the VPN. The VPN you are using has been locked out of the Mojang system. Try a different VPN or a different IP from your VPN and hope it works, however keep in mind that most free VPN's have already had someone get locked out on it, so no one using it will be able to login.
Or just accept the fact that your school doesn't want their network resources being used for the game.
If the VPN is "unblocking" (Which it isn't) the authentication server, then it comes down to the authentication server rejecting your login, so it has nothing to do with the VPN nor your school's block.
But really... stop playing at school. They WILL figure it out and WILL block that VPN soon enough.
