I have an issue that has just started happening somewhat recently. Occasionally something will happen (Sometimes my sound driver will crash because I am using a special setup that I can explain if needed- sometimes nothing that I can figure out happens as a cause) when ever this mystery thing occurs, I can no longer open minecraft in the last builds I used. For example, I was running 1.11.2 today before hand so I could not load 1.11.2 any more with out it crashing. 1.12.2 would launch just fine. Nothing I do will fix this problem except to restart my computer. I have deleted the 1.11.2 version file, I have ended all java related tasks to include the server I run. I have deleted all java temp files etc. nothing works but a full system reboot.
The error it gives me is one that applies to resource packs being too much. But I have increased my memory up to crazy amounts like 20G and that didn't fix the issue either. Again, other builds run fine, and this build runs fine after reboot so I know it is not an issue with the resource pack.
