So, I have a problem with minecraft. When I press play in the launcher, it launches up normally. The Mojang screen pops up and then the main menu loads up. The problem is with the main menu. When it loads, it just freezes and when I hover over a button, it doesn't highlight. If I try to click on one of the buttons, it just turns into "Not Responding". Last week this started happening and I just kept pressing play to see if it would eventually work and it did. I was able to click on everything and it worked fine for that one day only but after that until now, it has been doing the same thing. Occasionally, the menu will start up and I am able to move my mouse around and click on buttons but only for like 1-2 seconds before it just freezes again. This has been happening on the versions I have tried so far: 1.8, 1.9, 1.12. I'm assuming that it is a problem for all versions but idk yet since those are the only 3 I've used so far. However, when I have forge installed, with or without mods, everything for some reason works fine. I am able to click on anything and join servers or play singleplayer and what not and the main menu doesn't freeze at all. It's just in vanilla minecraft that this problem seems to happen.Anyways, any help would be appreciated and please help me fix this!

Hey, I had this same problem today, to fix it uninstall the version you are trying to play from you versions folder in .minecraft. After that restart your computer, then go back and re-download the version.
