I have had this problem for months, and no, before you ask me to install OptiFine, it causes MC to crash.
Minecraft has been unexpectedly laggy for the past few weeks. I tried installing newer versions of Java and it worked. Here's the problem; when I cleaned my laptop fan just to get my laptop to perform faster (hoping that MC would run even faster), MC ran extremely slow once again, at a snail's pace of 1-2 FPS when in areas with entities in them. How do I fix this? (Please give me good solutions!)

I have had this problem for months, and no, before you ask me to install OptiFine, it causes MC to crash.
Minecraft has been unexpectedly laggy for the past few weeks. I tried installing newer versions of Java and it worked. Here's the problem; when I cleaned my laptop fan just to get my laptop to perform faster (hoping that MC would run even faster), MC ran extremely slow once again, at a snail's pace of 1-2 FPS when in areas with entities in them. How do I fix this? (Please give me good solutions!)

My old laptop had identical specs to yours, and with Optifine, the game ran fine.
Mess with the settings until you get good performance. I'd recommend keeping render distance below 12, and turn down particles and clouds.
I also recommend making sure the fans are even still working. You should use a program like HWMonitor to check temperatures.
