Last night I did what I inevitably had to do: upgrade my computer from Windows 10 build 1703 to build 1709. I think Minecraft may not work anymore, but I haven't tried it. Anyway since what I am experiencing looks like a driver problem, it probably won't work. Also, MCEdit lags really badly when I try to use it, which is why I am convinced that Minecraft will not work. I brought up dxdiag and saw these errors in the display tab:
There is a problem with Intel(R) HD Graphics device. For more information, search for 'graphics device driver error code 43'
There is a problem with NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M device. For more information, search for 'graphics device driver error code 43'
Specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400S CPU @ 2.50 GHz
Installed RAM: 6 GB
Operating system: Windows 10 build 1709 64-bit
Display drivers: (should be fairly obvious from above)

Launch the game to see if it's not working.

I am out. If you want to contact me, send me a mail, or a tweet.
You probably need to reinstall your graphics driver, as detailed in the following link; if it is not properly installed Minecraft indeed will not work (probably "pixel format not accelerated", which also explains the MCEdit lag, which, unlike Minecraft, is not as GPU-dependent):

I do vaporwave aesthetics, and soon audio creations.
l'oeil, l'image
l'ouïe, le son
Sounds from a future that does not exist yet. Results of arbitrary code execution into a living computing matrix, turned into sounds...

Note: Do not use Windows Update to reinstall the driver (last steps given); go to the manufacturers' Web site (Intel and NVIDIA).
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
