Whenever I change the launch settings to allocate more ram, it doesn't not reflect in game. Java and minecraft are up to date. Any thoughts?
Post a screenshot with F3 enabled and your JVM arguments.

JVM Argument:
-Xmx4G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=16M
And screenshot:
-Xmx2048M -Xms2048M
for 2GB
-Xmx4096M -Xms4096M
for 4GB
Try adding one of these into your JVM args replacing the -Xmx4G
Looks like something has set a global java limit which is overriding the games setting. You have a razor mouse?
Yes I do have a Razor mouse.
Uninstall the razor software then delete _JAVA_OPTIONS=-Xmx256mb (or 512mb) from your Enviroment Variables.
http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/unmodified-minecraft-client/2827415-1-12-faqs-read-before-posting does link to a page with incompatible software and tells the fixed to do. Razor software is there.
Didn't have to uninstall razor software, just deleted the environmental variable. Issue resolved. Thanks for the help.
