Hello, I have a question, why does my Minecraft world look awful compared to other people? I opened the Windows 10 edition the other day and noticed how great the graphics are compared to the Java edition, so I assumed it was just because the Java edition looks different, but when I went to YouTube to look at some people who use Java edition their Minecraft looked great as well. I use optifine with the default graphics settings. Here's an image
they change how the blocks look if that's your problem
How the blocks look isn't the problem, the problem is the contrast is all messed up. Day and night look the same except with the sky is a different colour and the grass looks extremely desaturated. Basically the colours are all messed up

Sounds like you've got night vision on, or something similar, if day and night look the same. It should be dark at night.

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.
The saturation is not messed up... look at the block textures. Normal block textures are always 16x16, you've got a default high-resolution texture, which basically is the normal texture with more detail and pixels. The more pixels you have, the "softer" the look can be (but also more detailed); the less pixels, the "sharper" the image is guaranteed to be (although things do start to become a bit bubble-wrappy looking when you go to less than 16x16). Look at the cobblestone wall for example.
Either you have a resource-pack on, or Optifine is changing the textures.
Also to note, you are in a low-saturation area of blocks (grey, beige, light blue).
If you're using optifine then maybe the issue is that you have day/night turned off, of you have the sky turned off, I don't remember exactly how to change those setting but if you lay around you'll find it.

I do use Texture Packs but they don't change anything

Shaders tend to make night much darker, maybe that's what he means by contrast, IDK
