I am on an HP Notebook with Windows 10. After not playing MInecraft for a while, I recently downloaded the newest version. However, when I launch any version 1.8 or higher, Minecraft simply displays the splash screen and then becomes unresponsive. When I click on it, it says Java platform (SE) unresponsive. I have tried deleting everything out of the .minecraft folder and restarting my computer.
However, when I run versions lower than 1.8 it works fine. Also, I have previously been able to run 1.9.
Does anybody know how to fix this or anything else I can try?

Use the old launcher.
I tried this but it still will not work.
Post old launcher's log.
Actually now it is working with the old launcher for some reason.
