I've been getting an error message every time I try to start minecraft, no matter what version or file, it crashes after I click "play" on the launching screen

please dont say reinstall minecraft or turn off and on your pc ive tried that over 5 times :I
Same problem here, just started today. Running Fedora 25. I've completely deleted my entire .minecraft folder and downloaded a fresh installer from minecraft.net, but I still get the same error. I did it again, and this time if I try to run beta 1.6.6 it gives the launcher wrapper error, but if I try to run a modern release (1.12.2) it says:
Error: Could not find or load main class net.minecraft.client.main.Main
Another note: I ran Minecraft in debug mode using my modding environment (Forge 1.11.2) and it ran just fine, so it's obviously a problem with the vanilla launcher.
