I just installed Forge today, and I was looking around for a mod I remembered from a while ago.I found World Edit, which seemed to be basically what I remembered. I downloaded the mod, put it in the /mods folder under .minecraft, as instructed, and launched Minecraft. I looked in the mods section and noticed there were the three basic Forge mods and World Edit, which seemed normal and regular, although I don't really have experience with mods. However, when I created a new singleplayer world to check out the mod, the world would start to be created, reach the point where it says "Creating World" or something, and then flash back to the main menu screen and stay there, as if I had not done anything in the first place. Then I tried to open an existing world instead of creating a new one, and the game simply froze and stopped responding. I force closed it, and after repeating this twice and reinstalling the mod, I came here for help. Hope you guys have an idea of what's going on, and can help me out. Thanks.
Sorry, but I can't find the log you're telling me to look for. I feel like I should've said this sooner, but I'm using Windows 8 right now.
Here is a example to set up the world edit in Minecraft 1.12.2 . You will need to install Java 8 update152 from Oracle . Newer mods , won't run with Java 7 . I hope you have some basic knowledge of the game and modding
Install Java 8 JRE for your OS ie ... x32 or x64
Create 1.12.2 Vanilla Profile in Launcher under Launch Options , Add New and select 1.12.2 ( NOT THE LATEST VERSION , BECAUSE THAT WILL CHANGE AS NEW VERSIONS ARE RELEASED ) , Toggle the Java executable button so it turns green , browse to , C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_152\bin\javaw.exe , Toggle JVM arguments to adjust RAM if needed and save . Then run at least once to download version and test vanilla .
Install Forge and create a Forge Profile in the same manner as the vanilla profile , except choose forge 1.12.2-14.23.0.2512
place the 2 mods in your , .minecraft \ mods \ 1.12.2 \ , directory
Run Your Forge Profile , use the wooden axe to select areas . use command //desel to unselect . The Guide is bound to the L key to see commands
I was using file explorer to look in the .minecraft logs folder, which only has the "latest" log, which is a text document, and a whole bunch of logs that are .gz files and are sorted by date

I'm not sure where I can find the logs... Should I look in the launcher?
Should I give you the "latest" text document?
How does one use a GZ file?

thanks, will try that and see if it works
To the best of my knowledge, I did everything you said to do, but for some reason when I click play the forge profile, it crashes
Windows has a screen grab tool called snip tool. post screen grabs of all the minecraft GUI windows so I can see your settings
I also made a mistake and posted wrong WE GUI , that will cause a crash , remove the one in your mods directory and use this one
