Hello. I'm new here and wasn't sure where to post this.
Minecraft keeps crashing whenever I try to open the launcher. What happened was that I had wanted to transfer my world from another computer. So when my laptop was set up and running, I installed minecraft, then opened the %appdata% folder and transferred my saved worlds over. It crashed.
Tried updating (the laptop wanted to install some updates), tried updating the drivers, deleting and reinstalling minecraft and java. Not sure what else I can do? Not sure if it makes a difference that I was using forge and world edit plugin on those worlds.
Help would be so much appreciated.

Well, let us start with the bottom then. Are you aware on what Graphic card you have, or from which brand! Is their any sticker on your laptop saying that.
---
If not, you should carefully follow this steps
Press Windows Key + R at the same time. (The windows key is usually located left of the ALT button. You cannot miss it)
A window pops up, type in the window: DXDIAG
If you have never opened this window it is gonna ask you to share or not. Just press Yes.
Then Click on the Tab DISPLAY
You should see something with "Name". Write that in your reply!
My Dad figured out how to update the graphics driver and it still didn't work. I don't think its going to work on windows 8.1. Tried everything we can think of. Thank you for your help though!
the app data may still be there, but it is doubtful.
what type of graphics card does the laptop have....nvm looked it up....Intel GFX card....may not be able to play MC at all.
it doesn't matter what the world was made/messed with if MC itself won't load.
your problem is that you can't get FX acceleration in your selected mode. go into the launch settings and edit the resolution to not be fullscreen. the default of 854 x 480 is fine.
Yeah, I did a bunch of googling on "hp 15-g203AX", hence my comments above, "Best I can tell (from somewhat limited info about that model), it's an AMD processor with integrated graphics, presumably an HD8500M or somesuch."
I looked at 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, 8, 9 (amongst others), I looked through those PDF user-guides, and searched on "L0L04PA:" as well, then I read up about the processor and
Never mind, sorry, can't be bothered any more. Apologies. Spent hours on it, tried to help,
whoops, missed the little tidbit at the top of the page that listed the specs as that for a diff laptop. my bad.
this line from your crash log:
-XX:HeapDumpPath=MojangTricksIntelDriversForPerformance_javaw.exe_minecraft.exe.heapdump
that should only be used if you have an intel GFX card. if you have an AMD one, that could be screwing it up
go to your launch settings, make sure the advanced options is active, then click on your profile
go to the JVM arguments and delete that section from it.

You should try to update your graphics card!
As noted, it seems to have problem with the graphic handling or OpenGL
It doesn't seem to find your graphics driver. As you noted you tried to update though, please recheck and perhaps answer this question:
Has the laptop ever run minecraft before, on the current os (Windows)? The one you are trying to transfer on?
No this laptop hasn't run minecraft before
I've been using it on my brothers computer. This is windows 8.1, how do I update the graphics card?
Well, let us start with the bottom then. Are you aware on what Graphic card you have, or from which brand! Is their any sticker on your laptop saying that.

Thanks for your patience, I'm pretty amateur when it comes to computer stuff!
Beside name it says Microsoft basic display adapter.
Its hp 15-g203AXRev: 22CE-120
My Dad figured out how to update the graphics driver and it still didn't work. I don't think its going to work on windows 8.1. Tried everything we can think of. Thank you for your help though!
Upon updating your graphics driver.
Does the name still remain with: Microsoft basic display ?
In Dxdiag box?
Yes
Hmm,
I mean, a little unfamiliar with laptop. I believe a laptop's display will never change there but I have no doubts on it.
Any information you can give on what drivers you have installed?
I give up.
Don't give up yet.
On the original computer compress/zip your world.
Transfer that zipped world to your laptop, unzip it, add it to the saves folder and see if it will open.

this prob won't fix it, but it is worth a try.
HP says Intel HD Graphics 4000
whoops, missed the little tidbit at the top of the page that listed the specs as that for a diff laptop. my bad.
you know, if you have an AMD GFX card...why do you have intel GFX stuff in your JVM in your launcher?
I'm sorry, I have no idea what that means.
I can't speak computer language yet, lol
