1st screenshot is 24 of 25's chunk situation 2nd screenshot is the 25th. and I tested portals in exact same conditions right next to the structure, but the solo portals worked and so did the latticed portals. super pissed because I can't think of anything causing any of this. However all portals worked without issue in vanilla minecraft soooo, forge/optifine/mod issue?
I can give crash reports of when I light a broken portal if needed

Ok so this game hates me... there are 25 portals that crash my game, break world etc.

Remove Optifine and try again.

This worked, Thanks! Also I had Optifine HD_U_D8 before but it did work with HD_U_D3, (not sure of between) just a little weird.
