I'm having a heck of a time here. For a couple of days now I have been trying to download and play with the FTB Beyond mod-pack. My computer has enough RAM and storage.
Steps I have taken:
1) downloaded and made account on twitch
2) downloaded FTB Beyond on profile called FTB Beyond
3) created a second vanilla profile to check that it wasn't the modpack giving me grief
4) uninstalled/reinstalled Minecraft multiple times (restarting computer in between)
5) tried to download Java again, but I already have the most up to date one.
When I go to play Minecraft through Twitch (modded or unmodded version) (by going to Twitch, mods, my modpacks, play) I get this Minecraft Null launcher (first screenshot)
Clicking play takes me to this (second screen shot).
Clicking play again does nothing but reload and take me to the second screenshot again.
What say you, Minecraft people? I feel like a fool for not being able to get this!
I'm also on a Mac running Sierra 10.12.6
I'm starting to wonder if I have done something wrong in Twitch - when I create a new profile, the option to add the modpack FTB Beyond doesn't seem to come up (FTB Beyond doesn't come up in the search).
Installing Java on the computer won't update the App. You'll have to go into Settings on the App to tell it what version of Java to use.
Try un-installing the modpack and re-installing.
I looked for the modpack and found it under Browse FTB Modpacks button.
The Twitch App doesn't play the MC game. It opens the Mojang launcher to actually play MC. Keep in mind tho, any settings you make (like Java, memory allocated, etc.) are through the Twitch App, not the subsequent Mojang launcher.

Downgrade to Java 8. Java 9 is currently unsupported.
