I've been trying to get a fortune pickaxe legit for the past hour. After many failed attempts, I'm starting to think the enchantment was removed or something because honestly, this shouldn't be as hard as it is.
Now, about an hour later, I've found myself dumbfounded as to how I'm surrounded by 6 STACKS of enchanted books, none of them holding fortune.
So here I am, wondering what to do. Is the enchantment so rare that the game should be renamed cow, reed, and quartz simulator? Or do you need 10-mile tall bookcases just to get a fortune on a pickaxe?
I only posted in modded because I am using optifine and Xaero's minimap mod and didn't want to get yelled at in case of the off chance there is a mysterious "no fortune" bug with either of those mods. (Yes, my luck would be that bad. It's why I'm trying to get this pick..)

Have you put enough bookshelves around? You should only need 15 bookshelves in a ring 1 block away from the enchantment table. It is random, so you likely just have real bad luck. Keep trying and it'll happen eventually. If you get tired, try a librarian villager.
