Just got Minecraft again after not playing for years, and started playing again and immediately noticed I have no sound effects for picking up blocks or XP. All sounds are up to at least 50% in settings.
resource packs can contain sound data, try turning any off and see what happens, if that does nothing push f3 + T to reset the sound engine once you are in game
