I've downloaded several different modpacks on twitchapp and have played through all 3 of them with the same setup and Jvm arguments. I've given the game from 3gb-5gb of ram per modpack.
The Simple Life 2 - HQM
YAWcraft
Skyexchange
Current PC specs:
GPU - NVIDIA 960 - 2gb vram
CPU - AMD FX 8350
8GB HyperX Blue (1 stick)
I run stuff like TESV with many different mods (including HD textures) using SKSE and NMM/Modloader and it works perfectly fine with no stutters, with V-sync. I can run Witcher 3 and Fallout 4/NV modded as well, no problems there either (all at high settings). Obviously, GTA V and other big games run without FPS issues or any freezing.
However, Minecraft is the odd one out, as I've turned down all my game settings to the minimum (including V-sync off / no optifine is present in these modpacks) and i'm getting these really strange "lag spikes." It feels more like the game is doing a dump every few minutes and gets progressively worse as I play, as it freezes more and more often, which has me restarting the client every half-an-hour to make it (barely) playable as I watch my screen make my character stutter around.
This strikes me as strange because I've played modded minecraft on a four-year old, intergrated graphics laptop with 4gb on modpacks with just as many mods as the few stated above without any strange freezing issues with negligible 30-45 fps (and spamming stuff like nukes because it was fun). Could it be twitchapp screwing me over? I have several other processes running in the background such as Steam and Skype, as well as the Twitch App (obviously) and the occasional Google Chrome for YouTube, but I had those running on my older laptop as well.
Any reason for me to be getting these large freezes? It feels really strange to upgrade to a decent PC to have sub-optimal gameplay on a block game.
I just started playing The Simple Life 2 - HQM using the twitch app and immediately freezing upon entry into world. As i continue to play; no matter what i was doing it would just keep freezing. I tried playing with the settings. It didn't worked. I even googled the problem and got threads from about 2 or more years ago with freezing issues. But the mods listed in those threads don't appear to be in the current mod pack. Maybe it has something to do with twitch completely crashing for hours today. i don't know if it has happened before this point.
Edit: I have played other modpacks like Sky Factory 3 with little to no issues before today.
This might be a little late to respond to but same here! I have run packs with 110 mods, maybe more, before on my maybe 5? year old laptop with no issue. However The Simple Life really just screws me over. I've had to take out mods which eventually made it work, with the occasional crash/lag but that'd mean I have to play without the full quest experience. I've watched Seapeekay also play and I believe just in his second episode, apologized for the lack of recording as the pack had issues so it must be TSL pack itself. Can't really say what it could be but you're definitely not alone.
That being said, I'm more into 1.7.10 packs, as those run without issue. My girlfriend and I have tried building packs for 1.10 and above but find that they're really laggy. Either those versions of minecraft aren't fully stable enough or the newer versions of those specific mods aren't as compatible as they were in 1.7.10.
Could be the pack itself, could be the mods in 1.10. Unfortunate either way.
