I am at a total loss here. I've tried checking my firewalls, updating Java, reinstalling Minecraft, completely wiping everything Minecraft related off of my drives- everything.
The problems I have are that my game constantly crashes at random intervals, and skins no longer load at all. Sometimes when joining a server, sometimes when dying, sometimes when pistons activate- the list goes on. The game has plenty of RAM, is completely unmodded, and has only started having these issues since the release of the new launcher.
Everything multi-player related is completely and utterly broken. Skins never load anymore, and players only render as Steve and Alex. And, on the few occasions when the game has decided to actually load into a server, it will crash at some random point for no real reason.
I can provide any necessary screenshots and info about my computer. At this point, I am just desperate for any help I can get. I appreciate any incite as to how these issues can be resolved.
does the 'linux' launcher have these issues? (the 'linux' launcher is actually the older java-run launcher). if not, it can be confirmed as some sort of launcher issue - if so, something in one of minecraft's libraries or online features.
My suggestion is to start by checking your profile. Select the launch options (click the 3 dashes in the upper right corner if the menu isn't visible) and click on whatever profile you're using (I suggest starting with a default one such as "Latest release"). Did you change any of the options? The most important ones are: game directory, Java executable, JVM arguments and Log config.
If you did enable any changes then my first suggestion would be to turn the whole thing off and then try again. So only use defaults.
I've tried both changing settings and using defaults, neither of which have been any help. I appreciate the suggestion, but I've already tried both things. I've even gone as far as both restarting and reinstalling the program altogether.

Yes, that's been my only partial fix so far. However, even when using the old launcher, I still cannot see player skins 99% of the time. Sometimes I can see a few previously rendered skins, but even that has stopped happening as of late. So, as of right now, my game is completely skin-less regardless of which launcher I use.
