Crash occurs at random intervals. Sometimes I can launch the game and crash in the menu, sometimes it'll be directly after getting in to the game, sometimes it'll be 30 minutes or hours later. Absolutely random. This is on a completely fresh Windows 10 install from last month. I do not have any of the software on the known list of compatibility issues.
The audio stutters for a moment and the game freezes then the Minecraft window goes black. Sometimes it'll do this and instead of going completely black it will stop rendering a lot of blocks like this: http://i.imgur.com/iL1qQhB.png. I do not get any java crash logs and when the window just goes black I have to close the game from task manager.
I have tried several benchmarks for GPU, stress tested my CPU with Prime95 Small FFTs for a few hours, ran Memtest for several hours. I have not seen any issues/errors with any of these so it should not be my hardware.
Checked with multiple nvidia driver versions as well. I can't remember which versions I have tried, but I tried a lot of them back to about the 350's. Used DDU in Safe Mode for every uninstall before I reinstalled new drivers.
Reinstalled Java 8 (1.8.0_144) several times. x86 and x64.
Reinstalled Minecraft, deleted appdata as well.
Windows Event Viewer shows that I am getting OpenGL crashes with the nvidia driver at the exact same time that the crash/freeze occurs.
Application Event Viewer tab:
The NVIDIA OpenGL driver has encountered
an out of memory error. This application might
behave inconsistently and fail.
