I can agree with Captian_Nemo, Although I think you could still do some things to make your minecraft less laggy.
Now explain your lag, Is it ping lag? ( Caused by internet)
Or is it FPS Lag? ( Caused by your "labtop")
Now you can go into your video settings and play around with that to gain a bit of FPS sacrificing some graphic details
or
If its your internet you can use an Ethernet cable if your "labtop" has an ethernet spot, Maybe getting closer to your Moderm but normally you will just need better internet :/. If you want you can run a speedtest to figure out how fast your internet speed is by looking at the ms (ping).
Anyways I hope you find a way to make your minecraft a lot less laggier!

Since you don't provide your internet or computer specs, I'll just assume both suck. 1. Get better internet. 2. Get a better computer.
