I'm returning to Minecraft after an extended hiatus and it seems a lot has changed. Two primary issues have proved to be quite frustrating:
Skin
So my skin was no longer displaying and it appears to have defaulted to the new Alex skin. I went to the minecraft website and reuploaded my skin (and also changed the model from Alex to Steve) and 48 hours later the skin has not updated in game despite minecraft.net assuring me the file saved correctly.
Server Connection
Arguably of much more severity, I'm no longer able to login to any multiplayer servers. Every attempt to join any server is met with the response:
"failed to login: the authentication servers are currently down for maintenance"
I've tried googling the issue with little success. Tried the suggested fixes such as updating Java (I'm running Java 8), and restarting/resetting my router.
Looks like a lot has changed since 1.7.10 and I'm completely lost so any help would be appreciated!
