A couple of days ago I bought a new computer and installed Minecraft 1.12. Then I startet to experiment with mods, 3. party tools, resource packs, shaders and video settings in generell, but this is hard to understand and get the game to run smoth.
- Increased Ram allocated on Minecraft from 1 to 4 GB
Resource packs tested
paragonia
Realistic Adventure v8.9 [64x] (using now)
Modding and other
Here the confusing comes :
- Forge (can't run Optifine)
- Optifine (using)
- GLSL Shaders Mod (worked worse then optifine)
- ASM 5.2
- Gamebooster (3. party tools, is it necessary?
Shaders
Chocapic13 V6 Lite
Summary
I found out that it was best to not use forge, but only optifine and a shader. But the whole prosess was confusing, Minecraft crashed when trying to use forge and optifine. And could not run shaders mod.
Now I use:
In Launcher: Optifine
Resource pack: Realistic Adventure v8.9 [64x]
Shaders:Chocapic13 V6 Lite
Videosetting: It is set to reset to default after testing, only change is render distance to 7.
Without shaders i get 60-70 FPS.
With shader I get 28-35 FPS
Help needed:
Mod: Is optifine the only mod i need? What about GLSL Shaders Mod (and ASM 5.2)? Every guide tells different.
Resource pack: Realistic Adventure v8.9 [64x]. I think some of the items was to realistic, like crafting bench. Other tips?
Shaders: Chocapic13 is good and I like it. But it's very dark indoor and inside jungels. Other tips?
Video settings: After a lot of changing I just satt it back to default. What changes should I do?
3. party tools: Is it helpful with game booster and other, or is it just bloatware?
Good news, there's an obvious problem that can be fixed.
Java - therefore Minecraft - is using your built-in Intel graphics card, instead of the Nvidia one.
Look at the F3 screen, on the right under "Display".
To fix it, in the NVIDIA control panel, add a new program, and find your java, which will probably be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft\runtime\jre-x64\1.8.<SOME VERSION NUMBER>\bin\javaw.exe"
Thanks. 130 FPS with shader! Its around 15 years ago I was good at computer.
So to to the rest of the questions. Any tips on mods (optifine etc), resource packs, shaders and video settings? This is all new to me.
If you see the picture with waters, you can see a sharp line between the water and the sand. How do we fix that?
I have played vanilla minecraft on the old computer a lot. But since I got a new computer I had to try out what the computer can do with resource packs, shaders and general graphic.
I think faithful is a good resoruce pack when I get tired of the fancy resource packs and Shaders.
I turned on what you said on video setting, the graphic got a lot better, but FPS got down to 40-50.
Most important I got the basic covered, thanks.
