I have Mac OSX version 10.6.8 with a 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo, 4gb 667 mhz ddr2 sdram and it cant run the newest launcher, and it cant run the latest version on the older launcher, but it can run every other version, even forge and optifine versions, just not 1.12 or optifine 1.12. I have 3 gb of ram allocated to minecraft. I know that the only way i can update my java is to update my computers software, but i cant do that because i have to pay 45$ for the updates. Please help me find a loop hole or way to get around this, a friend of mine runs a server on 1.12 and id really like to join and check it out.

You can still play older versions until you can upgrade your system.
