I am having trouble with my minecraft FPS since I reinstalled Windows 10. The issue is not with my laptop. I ran minecraft before I reinstalled Windows at around 40 FPS YESTERDAY. I have allocated up to half of my Ram (6GB 12 Total) and no change. I run my steam games with no issue with FPS at all. If anyone has a fix to this, it would be much appreciated.
Minecraft runs on a programming language, Java, not a graphics or other game engine. Apples and Oranges.
Make sure all your drivers, especially the graphics, are up to date. Did you install the latest Java version too?
Yes I have install the latest Java version. I guess I will double check if my drivers are up to date. I did switch from Windows 8 to Windows 10 if that changes anything.
That changes a lot. Did you make sure the PC you upgraded was Win 10 compatible (hardware, drivers)?
Yes, my laptop gave me the option to upgrade to windows 10 so I did. I figured it would be the best bet with me going away to school next year. The only issue it stated was the Bluetooth but since I don't use that it wouldn't have mattered.

I think older drivers might be the issue. Also do you have a laptop or a pc? I'll find and link drivers for you if you can tell me your specs.
But wouldn't my other games show the same issue?
Laptop
Below are my specs though
Intel Core i5-4200U
Intel HD 4400
12 GB DDR3 L Memory
I just found it odd that my other games are running completely fine.

Turn on VBOs.
Didn't make a difference. Like I don't understand what it could be.
Don't allocate half your ram. Leave it at default.
Try Optifine.
But the point is I shouldn't have to use optifine to get over 2 FPS
No, you shouldn't.
Can you check what the "limit" frame rate is set to in settings?
I have it set to 120 FPS
Thank you for the help by the way.
Please post a screenshot of your settings (options).
