So I am trying to run Minecraft Forge 1.12 with Biomes O Plenty 1.12 (and Optifine 1.12 as well in case it's somehow relevant, since I'm seeing many topics complaining about optifine not working with forge, but biomes o plenty is what my crash message keeps complaining about). I'm not sure which version of Forge I should say I'm trying to run because I've been trying multiple versions.
I saw another thread about this issue made where it looked like someone tried to run minecraft on forge 14.21.0.2326 and their biomes o plenty was giving issues, but their friend who had a different version of Forge ran it fine. When they used their friend's version it worked, though they never mentioned which version their friend used. I've been trial and erroring my way into the version that works with both newer and older versions than what that person used (including the most recent version - currently 14.21.0.2382) and have had no luck so far!
The message I keep getting is:
The game crashed whilst there was a severe problem during mod loading that has caused the game to fail
The game crashed whilst there was a severe problem during mod loading that has caused the game to fail
Error: net.minecraftforge.fml.common.LoaderExceptionModCrash: Caught exception from Biomes O' Plenty (biomesoplenty)
on top of that, the view crash report doesn't bring anything up for me (although I also saw a complaint like that in another thread so that might already be a known issue)
Does anyone have any insight on what version of forge I should be using or anything else that could be going wrong? I don't fully understand all this crash log related stuff and whatnot so I don't know all the info I should be providing, but I'll try my best to provide anything else that is asked of me!
EDIT: oh a bunch of my post messed up. I did my best to remember what parts of the post I needed to reenter!

Try removing your resource pack. If you can't get into the game, just delete or move the zip.
Didn't help :c For the record there was a new version of forge released the morning after I made this topic that I just discovered, so I tried with that version with the resource pack still there and it didn't work, but it also didn't work when I removed the resource pack.
Oh, and if the info helps, it always crashes on the loading screen. This is the part it always stops at

I figure it's the Issues tab? Assuming I'm looking a the right page
I'm glad you told me this because this.... managed to really help me because I was about to post an issue and read the description/guideline that they included as a "now before you waste our time with this issue...." ^o^
And the text included "- [ ] This issue occurs *WITHOUT* Optifine, Sponge or similar mods installed."
Which made it occur to me, I never even tried taking optifine out of the mods folder while testing forge and biomes o plenty together.
So I removed optifine and this made it start up just fine. So it really was optifine all along (ahhhhhhhhhh it's always optifine)
The topic I saw complaining about optifine crashing forge had someone respond "just wait until optifine fixes it" so I guess for now I'll just need to play on this mod without optifine~ Unless there happens to be some other solution that somebody knows about. But honestly waiting is still just as fine with me.

Glad you were able to fix it. I always find it best to find the source of the issue and then look for somewhere to inform the author about the crash. They may know the issue and can help you resolve it.

Well, yet again you brought me across information that I should have found to begin with, it just never occurred to me to search into these places. I think the only places I searched were google and this help subforum (which I likely reached through google). But now for the future I will have a better idea on which places (specifically the source threads/sites for what I think may be acting up) I should go look at/ask questions in. But also I need to be getting myself more into using that scientific method to test out the source that's giving me issues, since I didn't initially try to test forge without optifine >u>
But anyway what I found is that in the optifine thread people have been discussing which versions do and do not work with forge. Unfortunately biomes o plenty 1.12 needs forge #2379 and above, but the most recent compatible version of forge with optifine is, allegedly, #2359 (and potentially #2362 but it isn't recommended), so apparently I'm still stuck for now.
The last version of Forge which works with OF is #2347.
#2348 started mentioned registry rewriting and... you know...
Regards.
So it appears to be a well known issue that I'm sure will end up resolving eventually. I'll keep an eye on that thread to keep up to date! And keep an eye on new version releases
