So my brother and I have been using LAN to play on a world that's on his computer. I decided that I wanted the server to be an actual server, so I set up the server, and it's running as usual. I had him send him the entire world, which was on his single player, to me via various sources, such as media fire, google drive, and even uploadfiles.io, but I kept generating the seed the world was on, but not any of our buildings or modifications to the world. The playerdata worked fine, I had all the tools, and I even spawned in the place where I was last, but my house was nowhere near. I double checked his world and the house was supposed to be where I was standing. He has a Mac, and I have a windows computer, but I don't think that matters. Does anyone have any advice to how I can get the world working properly on my server? I've named it world, deleted the old one, set the name to "world" in my server properties and everything.
edit: also wanted to say that the level isn't loading on my single player world either, argh.
you pulled the entire save folder into the world folder, including the region files? those files actually contain the world data. it won't matter what OS you use as the game is java based.

If the region files are in the save folder, then yes. I tried doing the exact same thing with an older download he gave me of the same world, and it worked fine, but only for that download. I couldn't find a single difference in the files of the old download and our new download, so there must be a reason the old download worked over our newer world.

ok....it has been a while since I've hosted a server, (and I've lost the HD the server setup was on)
first try this (if you haven't already)
delete the map folder on the server
put in the save folder you want onto the server and rename the folder whatever the map folder is called, world or whatever it is
also, was his the comp you used to host the LAN setup or was it yours?
oh, so it is modded, did you make sure you brought all the mods and any edited config files as well?
